Museveni Flies to Angola to Discuss Regional Issues

President Yoweri Museveni has left the country for Angola for another meeting in two months. 

In a brief message to his social media followers, the president says he is "heading to Angola’s capital Luanda, for a quadripartite summit as part of the continuation of the dialoguing process aimed at finding a lasting solution to the different regional issues."

The President was seen off by the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi, Minister for the Presidency Esther Mbayo, Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet John Mitala among others leaders. 

At the last meeting, Rwanda and Uganda reached an understanding to resolve tensions that have erupted between their two countries in recent months, after contacts undertaken by Angola with DR Congo’s assistance. 

According to a press release from the Angolan presidency, between the presidents of Uganda, Rwanda, Congo, and Angola follow the Luanda Summit on 12 July. The four heads of state will on witness the signing of the instruments that enshrine the understandings reached.
