State House Confirms Appointment of Juma Witonze as Internal Affairs Minister

President Museveni has appointed Juma Witonze Kisekka as the Minister of State for Internal Affairs.

Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda confirmed the development on Monday, July 27, saying the President had forwarded Witonze’s name to Parliament for vetting and approval.

“It’s true that H.E. @KagutaMuseveni forwarded the name of Hon. Juma Witonze Kisekka to Parliament for vetting and approval as Minister of State for Internal Affairs,” Kirunda said.

Witonze serves as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) vice-chairperson for Gomba District. He also coordinates the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in the Greater Mpigi region.

The nomination comes after Parliament’s Appointments Committee rejected Dr Lawrence Muganga, the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University.

The committee declined to approve Muganga’s appointment after raising concerns about his citizenship status.
