The Uganda Police Force has warned candidates, supporters and voters against election-related violence ahead of the Local Council (LC) elections on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, police reminded all stakeholders that campaigns end on the same day and urged them to respect the electoral timetable. The force said the elections must remain peaceful, lawful and orderly.
Police said they will work with other security agencies and administrative authorities to protect the integrity of the polls. They warned that anyone who disrupts the electoral process will face firm action.
The force listed acts that will not be tolerated. These include intimidation, violence, threats, tampering with election documents, obstructing election officials, campaigning after the official deadline, disorderly conduct, influencing voters at polling stations and disrupting voting.
Police also warned against election processions, public disorder, fighting and physical assault. They said such acts could create fear and confusion and would be dealt with decisively.
Voters were urged to follow instructions from election officials and allow the exercise to proceed without interference. Police also reminded candidates and their supporters to act responsibly and promote peace and discipline throughout the election period.
The force further advised anyone dissatisfied with the outcome of the elections to use the legal channels provided under the electoral process instead of resorting to violence or other unlawful acts.
