The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has reappointed Hon. Henry Basaliza Mutegeki to the organization's Central Committee, with the announcement confirmed today, Sunday.
Following the announcement, Hon. Basaliza has vowed to justify the confidence placed in him.
Basaliza, who is designated as Patriotic Officer No. 011 and is a founding member of the organization, has focused his work on organizing structures in the Tooro Sub-region and spearheading youth mobilization initiatives.
He joins other recently appointed members, including Fadil Twalla, Jacob Oboth Oboth, Thomas Tayebwa, Kiryowa Kiwanuka, Frank Tumwebaze, Balaam Barugahara, Sanjay Tanna, Kwame Ruyondo, Hussein Kashillingi, and Alan Kasujja.
Reacting to his reappointment, Basaliza posted on his X platform: "I am deeply humbled and profoundly honored... I accept this responsibility with gratitude, renewed commitment, and unwavering loyalty. I pledge to continue serving the movement and our country with diligence, discipline, and dedication. I will strive to justify the confidence you have placed in me."
Gen. Kainerugaba, who also serves as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), noted that the newly structured committee is positioned to reinforce national economic development priorities, specifically targeting the growth of Uganda's economy to $500 billion (GDP) by 2031.
Following this reorganization, Basaliza retains his seat on the Central Committee to continue his coordination and mobilization functions within the regional framework.
