One of the most notable examples came in 2009 when she accepted the responsibility of serving as Minister for Karamoja Affairs. At a time when Karamoja faced significant social and economic challenges, she chose to stand with the people of the region, demonstrating leadership rooted in courage and service.

Her tenure contributed to efforts aimed at improving livelihoods, strengthening social services, and promoting development in a region that had for many years faced unique challenges. Her willingness to serve in such circumstances remains a powerful example of leadership driven by purpose rather than convenience.

Beyond government, Maama Janet has made an enduring contribution through the Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO), an initiative that has supported vulnerable children, empowered women, and strengthened communities across Uganda. Through this work, countless families have benefited from programs designed to restore hope and create opportunities for a better future.

For many young Ugandans, Maama Janet’s story is not simply one of holding public office. It is a story of faith, discipline, resilience, and dedication to serving others.
