The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Force has held a handover ceremony for the offices of Director of Finance and Public Information Officer at its headquarters in Bombo.
During the ceremony, Col Joab Yebazibwe handed over the office of Director of Finance to Lt Col Yona Tumuramye.
Maj Peter Mugisha also handed over the office of Public Information Officer to Maj Charles Kabona.
The Chief of Staff Land Force, Brig Gen Chris Bagonza, presided over the ceremony.
He cited Ecclesiastes 3:1, which says there is a time for everything, and said leadership transitions support institutional growth and continuity.
Brig Gen Bagonza commended the outgoing Director of Finance Land Force, Col Yebazibwe, for his service and contribution to the UPDF.
Col Yebazibwe thanked the UPDF leadership for the trust and support given to him during his tenure.
In his remarks, Lt Col Tumuramye pledged to perform his duties with integrity, professionalism and accountability.
He also commended his predecessor for laying a strong foundation on which he intends to build.
In the public information office, Maj Mugisha said the office had built productive working relationships with media stakeholders in Luweero and neighbouring areas.
He cited collaboration with Great Luweero Media to improve public engagement and information sharing.
Maj Kabona thanked the outgoing Public Information Officer for his service and pledged to build on the achievements made.
“We are not starting from zero. My experience in various directorates of the UPDF has prepared me for this assignment,” Maj Kabona said.
The ceremony was attended by several senior officers. They included the Joint Staff Finance, Brig Gen Robert Mugabe; Acting Director of Human Resource Management Land Force, Brig Gen Emmanuel Ayuk Ewama; Director of Logistics Land Force, Col Steven Malinga; and other officers from Land Force Headquarters.
