The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has revealed that his 52nd birthday charity run raised over Shs1 billion.
In a post on X, Gen Kainerugaba, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, said he will soon announce the charities that will benefit from the funds.
“I’m happy to announce that we raised over 1 billion Uganda shillings during the birthday run. I shall soon announce the charities we shall support and handover cheques to them. Thank you all for your support,” reads the post.
The run, which attracted thousands of supporters, was held at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Sunday, April 26.
Held under the theme, Run for Hope, Run for Charity, the event attracted several high-profile figures. These included Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, several Cabinet ministers, and top military officials led by Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt Gen Sam Okiding.
The run was organised by the Patriotic Club and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).
Ahead of the event, the PLU secretariat led by Secretary General Daudi Kabanda welcomed several leaders from government and the business community who committed support by buying kits and making cash donations.

According to Kabanda, PLU Chairman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba personally assigned the numbers to the members.
