President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has flagged off National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilizers to sensitize Ugandans about government programs designed to lift communities out of poverty.

Meeting the mobilizers at State House, Entebbe, on September 5, 2025, the President praised the group for their dedication and urged them to deepen public understanding of the NRM’s economic strategy.

“It seems you are clear about the vision and strategy of NRM because that’s always the problem—people don’t know how to get out of poverty,” Museveni said.

The mobilizers, led by Hajat Amina Mukalazi, were tasked to spread awareness about opportunities in the four critical sectors of the economy: commercial agriculture, manufacturing and artisanship, services, and ICT. Museveni said mobilization at the grassroots was crucial for ensuring citizens embrace pathways to wealth creation.

“While we have been telling people that there are four sectors of the economy that help us to get out of poverty, you are right to talk about mobilization regarding how the society can get out of poverty,” he noted.

The President also urged the team to involve citizens in fighting corruption and misuse of government funds, stressing that accountability is essential for transforming lives.

To support the mobilizers’ sustainability, Museveni pledged to back their SACCO initiative aimed at improving their livelihoods.

The group presented a Memorandum of Understanding to the President, commending him for the leadership that, they said, continues to steer Uganda toward socio-economic transformation.
