The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has praised Masindi Army Secondary School for outstanding performance in the 2025 UCE and UACE examinations, where the school ranked second in the district.
The commendation was delivered by Brigadier General Richard Karemire, the Joint Staff Formal Education, Sports and Culture on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, reaffirming the military’s commitment to supporting education in its institutions.
Speaking at the event, the Artillery Division Commander, Major General Daniel Kakono, who chairs the school’s Board of Governors, congratulated the students and urged them to aim higher.
“You have done well, but this is only the beginning. We can do even better than what we have achieved so far. Continue working hard, stay disciplined, and success will follow,” Maj Gen Kakono said.
He credited the UPDF leadership for sustained support, which he said has improved learning conditions and boosted academic performance.

Brig Gen Karemire commended the school’s administration, teachers, parents, and students for maintaining consistent excellence.
“Masindi Army Secondary School has remained dear to the UPDF, not for any other reason but because of the consistent success you continue to achieve,” he said.

He noted that UPDF formal education institutions have expanded to 53 schools, including primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, under the guidance of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Brig Gen Karemire said the schools serve both military families and civilian communities, encouraging wider enrollment.
The Head teacher, Gadafi Otim, thanked the UPDF leadership for providing science equipment to enhance teaching and learning.

Top-performing students in UACE were recognized during the event. Kyomuhindo Arafat scored 19 points in PCM/ICT, while Womugisha Patrick, Tugume Ivan, Opini Emmanuel, and Kabugho Elvious each scored 18 points in their respective combinations.
Leaders, education stakeholders, and security officials attended the ceremony to celebrate the school’s achievement.
