UPDF Reserve Force Commander Lt Gen.Charles Otema has survived attack after unidentified men raided his farm at Obira in Nwoya District on Thursday.
Four of the attackers, armed with pangas, bows and arrows were shot dead by Gen Otema’s guards, while a number of others were injured. None of the military guards was injured in the attack.
Defense Spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire said Gen. Otema was not home at the time of the attack. “The attackers came from across River Nile,” he added. Brig Karemire said, “ the March 6. 2020 attack on a UPDF Detachment in Zombo in which five soldiers lost their lives should not give any one false confidence that armed with arrows, bows and pangas, one can attack armed soldiers and get away with it.” he added.
Whatever the motive, “it was totally wrong and suicidal to attempt such a move. Soldiers acted in self defence and a team is on ground to establish more facts.”
