Police in Mbarara have arrested four family members over murder of their in-law.

The suspects are alleged to have ganged up to murder 35-year old Immaculate Orishaba, wife to Obadiah Akankwasa of Nyakaizi Cell in Kakoba Division, Mbarara Municipality.

Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, Samson Kasasira says Orishaba’s body was found abandoned in her house living room on Tuesday morning. The body had multiple injuries.

Kasasira says an eight-year old female juvenile pointed the investigators to one of the suspects, Ben Bashabomwe a brother-in-law to the deceased. He was traced and arrested the following day (Wednesday morning) from Rukoni Subcounty in Ntungamo district.

Bashabomwe, (33) was netted together with his accomplices; Lilian Akatukwasa who is a co-wife to the deceased, 27-year old Doreen Nasasira (a sister in-law to the deceased) and 23-year old Talent Kimuli, wife to Ben Bashabomwe. It’s not yet clear where the deceased’s husband was at the time of the murder.

The suspects are now detained at Mbarara Central Police Station, pending murder charges once investigations are complete. Meanwhile Kasasira says preliminary findings are that the murder was caused by a domestic wrangle.
