A man in Mbarara is on the run after he reportedly murdered his lover’s 5year old son and dumped the body at a farm in the neighbouring village.
Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson Samson Kasasira has identified the suspect as Nelson Kafuma, a resident of Biharwe Cell in Mbarara Municipality.
Kafuma reportedly disappeared with the boy, Clinton Amanya on Tuesday January 14, 2020. The suspect who was cohabiting with the deceased’s mother, Doreen Musimenta would later on Saturday call to inform her that the son’s body was at a farm in the neighbouring Karama 1 Cell.
Police have visited the scene and picked the body for postmortem. The body had a piece of cloth tied around the neck, an indication that he was strangled.
The cause of the murder is still unclear, but police initial findings indicate that Kafuma has since demanded that the deceased’s mother (Musimenta) produces him a child too.
“This man was in a relationship with the deceased's mother for almost two months and he was insisting that she must produce for him a child. And by the time the boy went missing this man was at home with the mother,” Kasasira explained, adding that the hunt for Kafuma is underway.
