Police are holding two suspects in connection with assaulting and robbing a KCCA staff.
The suspects; Japhali Kidaida and Ashraf Matovu also known as Steven reportedly assaulted Mathias Ssekamatte, a staff at Kampala Capital City Authority before robbing him of his belongings.
Deputy Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Police Luke Owoyesigyire says at around 6:30am on Thursday, the suspects stoned Ssekamate and robbed him of his belongings, including unspecified amount of money.
The incident occurred at Duster Street in the heart of Kampala City. Ssekamatte is still admitted at Nakasero Hospital following the injuries sustained.
Owoyesigyire explained that the suspects were captured by CCTV cameras while committing the offence and later taking off. “Police used CCTV footage to identify the suspects,” Owoyesigyire said, adding that the two are being held at Central Police Station Kampala, pending charges of assault and robbery.
