Police in Wakiso have arrested three suspects linked to a series of motorcycle robberies and recovered 10 suspected stolen motorcycles.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted in Old Kampala and Bukesa–Nankulabye.
“Police in Wakiso have arrested three suspects in connection with a spate of motorcycle robberies and recovered 10 suspected stolen motorcycles during an intelligence-led operation,” Kawala said.
She explained that the breakthrough came after a complaint filed on February 13, 2026 at about 10:00pm. Ssesanga Equiam reported a case of aggravated robbery involving his motorcycle, registration number UMA 191 DV, a Bajaj Boxer model.
“The attackers, allegedly armed with pangas, forcefully robbed him of the motorcycle,” Kawala said.
Police tracked the suspects to Old Kampala and Bukesa–Nankulabye. During the operation, officers recovered 10 suspected stolen motorcycles.
According to Kawala, the suspects admitted to taking part in several crimes. “During interrogation, the suspects confessed to involvement in motorcycle robberies, highway phone snatching, house breaking, theft and related criminal activities,” she said.
The recovered motorcycles bear the registration numbers UDH 516H, UGB 248V, UEV 046C, UDH 746H, UDK 657F and UDN 001C. Police also recovered four numberless Bajaj motorcycles.
Kawala said investigations are ongoing as police work to identify more victims and possible accomplices. She urged members of the public who may have lost motorcycles in recent weeks to report to the nearest police station.
