Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has welcomed an eight-member team from the Malawi Revenue Authority for a five-day benchmarking visit on Digital Tax Stamps (DTS).

The visit, which began on February 25, focuses on key aspects of DTS, including its components, implementation, monitoring, and enforcement.

Bichetero Emmanuel, Assistant Commissioner at the URA Tax Academy, praised digital stamps as a vital tool in closing revenue gaps.

“This knowledge exchange will benefit both sides, as our digital tracking solutions have boosted tax compliance and revenue collection,” he said.

URA officials shared insights on their DTS journey, highlighting challenges, successes, and lessons learned.

Henry Ngutwa, Malawi’s Deputy Commissioner General, expressed gratitude to URA for their guidance.

The visit is expected to help Malawi roll out its own digital tax system.
