The Consulate-General and key tourism stakeholders in Uganda and Kenya this morning launched preparations for the 4th Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism Conference, Exhibition and Fam Trip. Under the theme "Leveraging Youth, Innovation & Technology for Responsive & Inclusive Tourism", the event will run from 27 – 29 October 2025 at Ocean Beach Resort & Spa, Malindi, Kilifi County.

The launch was attended by Kilifi County Governor Gideon Mung'aro, county executives, the Kenya Tourism Board, Uganda Airlines, tour agents, and Ugandan Brand Ambassador Akothee.

Uganda’s Consul General in Mombasa, Amb. Paul Mukumbya, stressed that the Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism partnership is about complementarity, not competition. He noted the event has grown from 200 delegates in 2022 to a projected 750 stakeholders this year.

Explaining the theme, Amb. Mukumbya said innovation and technology are shaping the future of tourism, with young people playing key roles as travellers and service providers. He highlighted their potential in creating mobile booking apps, virtual reality travel experiences, and AI-driven customer service.

“Young people have a natural affinity for emerging technologies and often lead in creating and adapting solutions that transform tourism and hospitality,” Mukumbya said.

Governor Mung’aro praised youth innovation, noting that their creativity has birthed tech-enabled startups, sustainable tourism projects, and smart hospitality concepts. “These innovations not only improve visitor experience but also support environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and economic empowerment,” he said.

Uganda Wildlife Authority Business Development Manager, Dorcus Rukundo Twesigomwe, urged Ugandans to attend the Conference, noting that Kenyan visits to Ugandan national parks have doubled. She added that youth are driving research, digital marketing, and social media engagement, keeping destinations relevant in global markets.

The highlight of the launch was the unveiling of the registration portal .

The Conference will be preceded by a Fam Trip to the Kenya Coast from 22 – 26 October and a golf tournament at Vipingo Ridge on 25 October. Uganda Airlines will offer special rates for registered participants.
