The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Armoured Division has donated Shs1 million and 20 cartons of bottled water to Buddu FC as the team steps up preparations for the forthcoming Masaza Cup tournament.
The Armoured Division Commander, Brig Gen Pande Kajuba, handed over the donation. He said the support aimed to strengthen civil-military relations and build partnerships between the UPDF and local communities.
“We made this contribution to strengthen our civil-military relations, promote partnership, and demonstrate togetherness with the people we serve,” Brig Gen Kajuba said.
The Pokino of Buddu, Jude Muleke, received the donation on behalf of the team. He thanked the UPDF and the Armoured Division for supporting sports development in the region.
He said sports unite communities and commended the military for recognising the importance of investing in local sporting activities.
Buddu FC team manager Sostus Segawa thanked Brig Gen Kajuba and the UPDF for their continued support. He praised the professionalism and discipline of the UPDF and acknowledged the security support provided during football matches.
“The Armoured Division Commander has consistently supported sporting activities, and we appreciate the security and cooperation the UPDF provides during football events,” Segawa said.
In a related development, the Armoured Division football team beat Katwe FC in a friendly match played over the weekend and lifted the tournament trophy.
