President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni attended the opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 and the Zayed Sustainability Prize Award Ceremony at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The event, hosted by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attracted several world leaders, including President William Ruto of Kenya and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
The ceremony celebrated sustainability initiatives, honoring Sheikh Mohamed’s legacy of humanitarianism and global leadership in environmental stewardship.
St. Kizito High School Namugongo from Uganda narrowly missed winning in the Global High Schools category for the Sub-Saharan Africa region. This category recognized student-led projects addressing sustainability challenges in underserved communities.
The Climate Action category award went to Open Map Development Tanzania for their innovative flood management project that integrates indigenous knowledge with geospatial data.
President Museveni, who is attending at Sheikh Mohamed’s invitation, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address titled “Uganda’s Transformation: Leading Uganda’s Journey.” In his speech, Museveni will share insights from Uganda’s progress and development experiences.
