President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has proposed a partnership with Liberia to develop its steel industry, emphasizing its potential for economic growth and regional significance.

During a meeting with Liberia’s Vice President, H.E. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, on the sidelines of the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Museveni highlighted the untapped opportunities in Liberia’s steel sector.

“I see great potential in the steel industry in Liberia. This is an area that can bring tremendous economic growth and development,” President Museveni said. He urged Vice President Koung to present the idea to Liberia’s President, H.E. Joseph Boakai, to explore how the two nations could cooperate.

Vice President Koung expressed gratitude for Museveni’s insight and acknowledged Uganda’s longstanding friendship with Liberia. He reiterated Liberia’s readiness to strengthen ties and explore industrial development opportunities.

“We appreciate the wise counsel and leadership you continue to offer not only to Uganda but also to the continent. Liberia values its friendship with Uganda, and we look forward to deepening our collaboration in key areas, including industrial development,” Koung stated.

The discussion underscored the importance of fostering bilateral relations and leveraging natural resources for mutual economic benefit.
