Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has vowed to take stringent measures on Members of Parliament who put the House into disrepute.

While chairing the House on Friday, Kadaga said that MPs who made false accusations and utterances on the Shs10bn supplementary allotted to Parliament should be disciplined.

Kadaga in her statement specifically singled out Kyagulanyi and Trade minister Amelia Kyambadde and urged that disciplinary action must be taken against them. Last week, Bobi Wine alleged that the Shs20m given to each MP in the fight against COVID-19 was a “bribe” which he will not take.

On the same note, Minister Kyambadde was filmed on NBS persuading the host to ask her about the Shs20m allotment, before she responded negatively saying she will return the money to the Parliamentary Commission.

Bunyole West MP James Waluswaka asked Speaker Kadaga to invite Bobi Wine to substantiate why he said that Shs20m was a bribe.

“People think this House can be bribed to carry out its mandate. Hon Kyagulanyi should be asked to explain,” Waluswaka said.

Kadaga lashed out at Minister Kyambadde and Bobi Wine and vowed to take action against their ‘indiscipline.’

“How can a minister solicit questions on TV and then she says, she has rejected [Shs20m]. For members who are indisciplined, we shall take action. As for Hon Kyagulanyi, he has to go to the Disciplinary Committee for bringing this House into disrepute,” Kadaga said.
