Former National Female Youth MP candidate, Ann Ruyondo Lumumba will have to pull up her socks if she is to match up the candidature of State minister for Economic Monitoring, Molly Kamukama for Kazo Woman MP seat.

Ruyondo contested for national youth politics in 2016 losing to Anna Adeke Ebaju. She has bounced back with determination to take up the Woman MP seat in the new district of Kazo. Ruyondo will have to battle it out with former Principal private Secretary to the President, Kamukama who was recently appointed minister.

In 2016, former Makerere University Guild president Anna Adeke had to cling on a narrow victory to become the National female youth MP after garnering 128 votes against Ruyondo’s (NRM) 119. Born in 1990, Ruyondo is a daughter to late Col. Patrick Lumumba, one of the 27 National Resistance Army (NRA) guerilla fighters.

Last month, Kamukama, an ex-officio declared her bid for Kazo Woman seat. She boasted about how she had received blessings from Archbishop of Mbarara archdiocese Paul Bakyenga to contest in 2021 general polls.

“…I made public my wish to serve the people of Kazo District as their Woman Representative in Parliament. I'll focus on growing household incomes & supervising implementation of gov't programs. Thank you Archbishop Bakyenga for blessing the journey I have embarked on,” Kamukama posted on Twitter.

Ruyondo and Lumumba will have to tussle it out in the NRM primaries late this year.
