A UPDF chopper has crashed in Gomba district, killing two crew members.

UPDF Spokesperson, Brig. Richard Karemire has confirmed the accident, saying the Jet Ranger AF 302 was on a training mission at the time of the crash.

“We regret to inform you that a UPDAF Jet Ranger on a training mission has crashed. It had two crew members,” he said on twitter, adding: “Sadly no one has survived.”

Brig. Karemire says investigations are underway to establish the cause of the accident. “Condolences to their (deceased’s) families and the UPDF fraternity,” he said.

According to eye witnesses, the chopper crashed on top of Ndeese Hill in Butambala at around mid-day on Tuesday. UPDF has not yet released identities of the deceased crew members, but locals say the two include a man and woman.
