Godrin Mwebesa, a resident of Rugaga Cell in Kikatsi Sub county Kiruhura district was on Tuesday evening killed by a phone explosion.
Eye witnesses say Mwebesa was viewing himself through a motorcycle side mirror when the phone exploded and killed him instantly. It is suspected that the deceased’s phone exploded after coming in contact with the hot engine of the motorcycle.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident. He says investigations are underway to ascertain what exactly caused the phone explosion. Kasasira also advises people to always be cautious when handling devices such as phones to avoid similar incidents.
