The UPDF Wazalendo Sacco on Tuesday witnessed yet another transfer of power, welcoming a new Chief Executive Officer Col. Joseph Fred Onata. Col Joseph Onata takes over from Brig Simon Ocan who has steered the Sacco for the last four years.
Speaking at the handover and take over ceremony, the Deputy Commander Land Forces who is also Chairman Board of Wazalendo Sacco Maj Gen Sam Kavuma thanked the outgoing CEO for the tireless four ( 4 ) years of service. Gen Kavuma noted that it's under Brig Ocan’s reign that Wazalendo Sacco has seen high growth and progress, something he should be commended for.
In his remarks outgoing CEO Brig Ochan emphasized need for high level skills, experience and maturity by the governance and management team if Wazalendo Sacco is to maintain the high standard and success it’s known for. While receiving instruments of power, incoming CEO Col. Joseph Fred Onata expressed gratitude for this opportunity to serve yet in another capacity in the UPDF. He pledged not to disappoint the UPDF leadership.
Outgoing CEO Brig Simon Ocan has been nominated by the UPDF leadership to attend further studies at the National Defence College (NDC). Col Onata previously the Director of Finance at Air Force brings his vast experience in financial management to the Sacco. The handover and takeover ceremony was held at the Wazalendo Sacco headquarters in Kiwatule Kampala.

The Sacco was registered in September 2005 and has been the leading in the country.
