The Uganda Police Force has started validating officers who missed out on previous validations to enable the Ministry of Public Service continue paying their pension.

Deputy Police Spokesperson Polly Namaye says a total of 1034 police pensioners are not validated. “We have uploaded a list of 1034 unvalidated police pensioners on the police website. Officers are expected to appear for this validation exercise in the Ministry of Public Service before 14th July 2019,” Namaye said.

She added that failure to appear for this exercise could result into the officer(s) being deleted from the pension’s payroll. “Officers are encouraged to have their National IDs, an introduction letter from Police (HRM). For the pensioners who died, letters of Administration are also required. Important to note for the invalidated pensioners is that survivor benefits became effective on 24th March 1994 and any records before this date are not entitled to any monthly benefits as the law was not yet effected,” Namaye emphasized.
