The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced an overhaul of the organization's Central Committee while ordering all aligned ministers and Members of Parliament to actively monitor grassroots government programs.

Gen. Kainerugaba, who also serves as the Chief of Defence Forces, noted that the leadership shake-up aims to realign the organization with its evolving strategic goals following the successful completion of its initial phase of operations.

In a public statement, Gen. Kainerugaba explained that he will appoint a new membership of the Central Committee soon.

Despite the broad changes, the chairperson confirmed the retention of four specific members on the committee: Michael Nuwagira, Edwin Karugire, Hon. Michael Mawanda, and Andrew Mwenda.

The remaining list of new executive appointees will be finalized and made public soon.

In a concurrent communication, the General announced the appointment of Hon. Twala Fadil as the new Secretary General, replacing Hon. David Kabanda.

Gen. Kainerugaba instructed the National Vice Chairperson of PLU, Mr. Michael Nuwagira, to organize the official handover ceremony from Hon. Kabanda to Hon. Fadil as soon as possible, explicitly noting that all PLU Ministers and Members of Parliament must attend the event.

“The National Vice Chairperson of PLU, Mr.Michael Nuwagira, is hereby instructed to organise the handover/takeover ceremony of the position of General Secretary of PLU as soon as possible. From Hon.Kabanda to Hon.Fadil. All PLU Ministers and Members of Parliament must attend,” the General noted.
