In a recent development within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), the Chief of Joint Staff, Major General Jack Bakasumba, has appointed Colonel Chris Magezi as the Acting Defence Public Information Officer (DPIO). The DPIO also serves as the spokesperson.

This interim appointment comes as the substantive DPIO, Major General Felix Kulayigye, proceeds on a 30-day leave.

Colonel Magezi, who also serves as the Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, will oversee the office of the Defence Public Information during this period.

A statement issued by the UPDF shows that Col. Magezi is stepping in to ensure continuity in communication and information dissemination.

Major General Felix Kulayigye is expected to resume his duties after his one-month leave.

The UPDF has called on the general public and media stakeholders to take note of this temporary change and to extend their cooperation to Col. Magezi as he assumes his additional responsibilities.
