Benjamin Kisokeranio who heads jailed Jamil Mukulu’s faction of the ADF was captured at Uvira on his way from Burundi to DRC.
Several security sources confirmed the news of Kisokeranio’s arrest.
Maj Peter Mugisa told New Vision that Kisokeranio was badly wounded in one of the airstrikes by the UPDF.
"He (Kisokeranio) handed over command to Imam Bongo La Chuma, who was nabbed a couple of days ago,” Maj Mugisa added.
In his update on the ongoing joint operation in the jungles of the DRC, Maj Mugisa said the forces had on January 7 come across 03 graves in North West Kambi Ya Yua.
“These are suspected to have been put out of action during the combined Airforce and artillery bombardment on 30 November 2021,” he said.
He added: “The discovery suggests that as we continue with the combing operation, we shall discover more.”
H added that recently suspected ADF terrorists burnt a fuel tanker at Bulongo along Kasindi-Beni road.
“The driver with his turn man are suspected to have been abducted. This and other atrocities committed by ADF indicate that the remnants have the capability to attack soft targets,” he warned.
He said after being forced to scatter, the ADF “are still armed and dangerous too especially defenseless civilians in the villages and roads.”
“We urge the public in the two countries to actively support this effort to increase popular vigilance,” he added.
He said the “terrorists are now fleeing and killing villagers running away from valleys to Congolese slopes of Mt Rwenzori through Rwenzori, Kikingi, Mwenda and Mutwanga.”
“Others are in Eringeti triangle, such as Mamove, Bango forest, Bumbli, Kitcubo, Matungulu valley, Batonga, Tondoli and Mwalika in Irumu territory in Ituri province.
Their movements have been sighted in Komanda, Monthoyo, Malibongo, Mambasa, Biakato and Magina.
