Bukedea Woman MP Anita Annet Among has claimed a landslide victory to become Deputy Speaker of the 11th Parliament.

Anita Among trounced Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko and Yusuf Nsibambi of Mawogola North to deputize Jacob Oulanyah who was earlier on elected Speaker. 

Among garnered a whopping 415 votes against Nsereko and Nsibambi's 24 and 35 respectively out of the 481 votes cast. 

In her maiden speech, Among thanked the MPs, NRM Party and people of Bukedea District for the unwavering support. 

"I commit to promote teamwork, coherence, equal opportunities and enhance the welfare of the Members of Parliament. I will work with the Speaker to ensure that we perform for the 11th Parliament for the good of our Parliament and country," Among said.
