The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has hailed the true friendship and good will expressed by the Italian Ambassador to Uganda His Excellency Massimilliano Mazzanti.
Gen Kainerugaba who is also the Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC) hosted H.E Mazzanti for a dinner in Entebbe.
"Yesterday evening, it was my great pleasure to host my friend, H.E.Mazzanti, the Italian Am bassador at the SFC Officers Club for dinner. I thank H.E. Mazzanti for his true friendship and goodwill for Uganda," Gen Kainerugaba tweeted Saturday morning.
The two leaders discussed Uganda-Italy relations, especially the forthcoming defence and security undertakings.
Since coming to Uganda, H.E Mazzanti has held several meetings with Gen Kainerugaba with the two principals seeking to further strengthen bilateral relations between their respective countries.
He was posted to Uganda and ambassador in November 2019, replacing Ambassador Domenico Fornara.
Uganda and Italy have enjoyed close historical ties especially in the fields of trade, tourism, health, education and defense cooperation.
Some of the leading hospitals and education institutions in the country were founded by Italian missionaries, and trade and business between the two countries has been growing steadily over recent decades.
