The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has commissioned two new classroom blocks at Kayanja Army Primary School in Kyankwanzi, reinforcing its commitment to supporting education.
The classrooms were officially opened by the Joint Staff Political Commissariat, Maj Gen Henry Masiko, who represented the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
He described education as a strategic investment in the nation’s future and urged the community to safeguard the new facilities. Maj Gen Masiko also commended the Engineers’ Brigade for their role in completing the project.
Brig Gen Richard Karemire, Joint Staff Education, Sports and Culture, praised the Chief of Defence Forces for prioritizing education programmes. He assured teachers that government would continue to address welfare concerns while investing in school infrastructure.
The head teacher, Olupot Patrick, thanked the UPDF and the Chieftaincy of Education for the new classrooms, calling on pupils and staff to preserve them.
The ceremony drew senior and junior UPDF officers, local leaders including Kyankwanzi Town Council Mayor Elijah Kwefugga and LC1 Chairman Sabiiti Edward, as well as teachers, parents, and pupils.
