The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Operation Mlinzi wa Kimya has welcomed Colonel Francis Aragamoi as its new Battle Group Commander.
Colonel Aragamoi replaces Colonel Bernard Kashemeza, who is set to attend a course at the National Defence College-Uganda.
Joint Task Force Commander Brigadier General Anthony Lukwago presided over the ceremony. Brigadier General Lukwago said leadership transitions promote institutional growth, continuity and professional development.
He said the selection of officers for further military training recognised their performance and potential. Such opportunities also advance individual careers and strengthen the UPDF, he added.
Brigadier General Lukwago commended Colonel Kashemeza for his leadership, loyalty, commitment and service during his tenure with Operation Mlinzi wa Kimya in South Sudan.
Colonel Aragamoi thanked the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Battle Group.
He pledged to promote teamwork, open engagement and professionalism to address operational challenges and improve the mission’s performance.
Quoting 2 Timothy 2:4-5, Colonel Aragamoi urged officers and troops to remain disciplined and focused on their mission.
He said soldiers must remain committed to their duties and uphold the rules and values of the profession.
Commanding officers, component commanders, members of the Special Forces Command, senior officers and junior officers attended the ceremony.
