The Uganda, Kenya Coast Collaboration has received international recognition after winning the Cross-Border Coastal Tourism Resilience Award at the 4th Global Tourism Resilience Day Awards held in Nairobi.
The accolade was presented during the Global Tourism Resilience Day Conference and Expo at Safari Park Hotel.
The award ceremony was presided over by Hon. Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Kenya.
Global Tourism Resilience Day is an international platform that recognizes institutions and stakeholders that demonstrate leadership in tourism resilience, conservation, sustainable development, crisis preparedness, safety and recovery initiatives.
Kenya became the first African country to host the global event.
The Uganda Consulate in Mombasa said the award recognizes joint efforts in marine conservation, coordinated crisis response and collaborative coastal destination management.
The Uganda, Kenya Coast Collaboration was launched in 2022 by the Uganda Consulate in Mombasa to strengthen tourism ties between the two countries.
The initiative promotes cross-border travel and markets Uganda’s tourism products to the Kenyan coastal market.
Officials say the partnership has boosted the visibility of Uganda’s attractions and increased the number of Kenyan visitors travelling to Uganda since its inception.
The recognition underscores Uganda’s growing role in advancing regional tourism integration and building resilient tourism systems across East Africa.
