The State Minister for Sports, Peter Ogwang, has urged Ugandans to participate in the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 52nd Birthday Run.
The minister bought 2 millions kits for the event, whose proceeds will be committed to supporting the vulnerable.
Speaking to the media after purchasing the kits, the minister hailed Gen Kainerugaba, who is also the Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, for the initiative, which he called “justifiable.”
“So for me, as a minister of sports, I want to call upon the people of Uganda. I want to call upon all of us. Let’s come in big numbers to support this justifiable cause… it’s good for our personal health but also for the country,” Ogwang said.
The event will run under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope” and is being organised by the Patriotic Club and the Patriotic League of Uganda.
Organisers have set the cost of a running kit at UGX 20,000, with sales already underway at Kololo.
The event is set for April 26 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
