President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday hosted former Tanzanian Cabinet Minister and senior Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) member Prof. Anna Tibaijuka at State House, Entebbe.
The Tanzanian envoy paid a courtesy call to the President to deliberate on regional solidarity and the historical ties uniting the two nations.
During the afternoon meeting, President Museveni and Prof. Tibaijuka reviewed the enduring partnership between Uganda and Tanzania, focusing on the shared ideology and history of their respective ruling parties, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
Highlighting the deep-rooted geopolitical bond, President Museveni noted that the bilateral relationship between Uganda and Tanzania spans several decades of strategic political and social cooperation.
"We exchanged views on the long-standing relationship between our two countries and our two movements, the NRM and CCM," President Museveni said. "The relationship between Uganda and Tanzania goes back a long way."
The bilateral engagement reinforces ongoing diplomatic and regional integration efforts between the two East African neighbors.
