President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has gifted a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser VXR to the newly installed Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabale, Rt. Rev. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, to support his pastoral and administrative duties across the Kigezi sub-region.
The vehicle was handed over on Saturday, October 3, 2026, during the bishop's Episcopal Ordination and Installation ceremony held at the Rushoroza Diocesan Cathedral grounds in Kabale Municipality.
The Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi Ariganyira, represented President Museveni as Chief Guest and delivered the car keys alongside the President’s congratulatory message to the prelate.
President Museveni commended the Catholic Church for its longstanding partnership with the Government in driving socio-economic transformation, promoting education, and expanding healthcare infrastructure. He pledged continuous collaboration with the new diocesan administration in mobilizing communities out of subsistence living into the money economy.
The President also extended gratitude to the retiring Bishop Emeritus, Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira, praising his 23 years of dedicated episcopal shepherdship and pastoral service to Kabale Diocese since his consecration in 2003.
Bishop Gubazire, 52, becomes the fifth bishop to lead Kabale Diocese following his appointment by the Holy See in July 2026. Prior to his elevation, he served as a member of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) and Rector of the Saint Martin of Tours Formation House in Ejisu, Ghana.
Addressing thousands of congregants, clergy, and civic leaders gathered at Rushoroza, Bishop Gubazire expressed gratitude to the President for the logistical support, reaffirming the diocese’s commitment to evangelization, community development, and moral stewardship.
