The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) has distributed a new fleet of vehicles to 69 districts to strengthen the monitoring of climate-smart farming projects.
The fleet will support field activities under the Uganda Climate-Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP).
The Under Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Mrs. Aacha Mary Orikiriza, officially presented the vehicles to district officials at a ceremony in Namalere, Wakiso District.
Mrs. Aacha Mary Orikiriza represented the Permanent Secretary, Maj. Gen. David Kasura-Kyomukama, at the handover event.
The transport intervention will enhance mobility for district project teams.
The vehicles will enable officers to effectively supervise field activities, provide technical support to farmers, and improve localized service delivery.
To ensure the safety of the automotive assets, all designated drivers have completed comprehensive training.
The drivers completed courses covering vehicle operations, maintenance, operational safety, and traffic regulations.
The ministry has also attached strict management guidelines to the new fleet to ensure accountability.
Each vehicle features a 24-hour surveillance tracking chip to prevent misuse.
The government secured comprehensive insurance, a three-year warranty, and service coverage of up to 50,000 kilometers for every vehicle.
The fleet distribution forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to build institutional capacity at the local government level.
The logistics boost will accelerate agricultural interventions aimed at improving food productivity, environmental resilience, and sustainable development.
