Kakwa cultural leader Kassim Alumgbe Alosu has endorsed the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the presidency at a rally organised by the Patriotic League of Uganda in Koboko District.
Alosu blessed Gen Kainerugaba’s presidential bid during the gathering on Wednesday, September 30. Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, the director of finance and administration at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat, organised the rally. MPs from the district also attended.
The community presented symbolic gifts for Gen Kainerugaba, including a stick representing a weapon used on the frontline, a sheep signifying peace and a hen marking his acceptance as a child of the community.
Daudi Kabanda, who heads the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) chairman’s office, thanked the community for supporting Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Residents also asked for the refurbishment of Koboko airfield. Kabanda conveyed their request to Gen Kainerugaba, who is also the senior presidential advisor on Special Operations.
The locals thanked Gen Kainerugaba for his efforts to address insecurity along the border. The Kakwa leader’s endorsement follows a nationwide PLU drive to build support for Gen Kainerugaba’s bid for the presidency in 2031. The mobilisation involves public gatherings and endorsement books through which supporters register their backing for Gen Kainerugaba.
