Uganda will establish a structured investment and skills-transfer pipeline with its European diaspora networks following bilateral talks aimed at accelerating domestic socio-economic transformation.
The Head of the State House Diaspora Unit, Mr. Mohammed Bagonza, brokered the strategic partnership during an executive meeting with Dr. Manoj Joshi MBE DL, the President of the Uganda Europe UK Association (UEUKA). The diplomatic engagement occurred on the sidelines of the inaugural Uganda–UK–Ireland Diaspora Convention in London.
The discussions focused on dismantling historical barriers to diaspora involvement by co-creating reliable channels for capital investment, intellectual resource sharing, and structured community mobilization.
Under the agreed framework, the State House Diaspora Unit will collaborate directly with UEUKA to encourage professional Ugandans living across Europe to actively inject capital into domestic industrial, agricultural, and technological sectors.
In a symbolic gesture of historical appreciation and diplomatic goodwill, Mr. Bagonza presented Dr. Joshi with a copy of Sowing the Mustard Seed, the definitive autobiography of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Dr. Joshi is a celebrated British-Ugandan industrialist, community organizer, and a prominent voice for diaspora diplomacy. Born in Jinja and a third-generation Ugandan of Indian heritage, his expansive career has bridged international commerce and transnational civic advocacy.
In recognition of his extensive philanthropic works and corporate leadership, he was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and subsequently appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) within the United Kingdom.
Under his current leadership, the UEUKA has evolved into one of Western Europe’s most organized and influential Ugandan civil society groups, consistently engineering programs that link professionals abroad back to local developmental priorities.
The bilateral assembly concluded with a unified pledge from both executives to transition the diaspora from standard remitting agents into frontline partners for Uganda's long-term economic prosperity.
