The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has provided free medical services to residents of Kisimula Parish, Kapeeka Sub-county in Nakaseke District through a community outreach program.
The initiative was organized by UGABAG XLIV, a contingent undergoing pre-mission training at the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO-TC) in Singo.
During the medical camp, residents received outpatient care, blood pressure screening, laboratory tests for HIV, hepatitis B, syphilis, and malaria, as well as counseling services.
Captain Olivia Mugisha, the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) officer for UGABAG XLIV, said the outreach is aimed at improving community health and also strengthen relations between the military and civilians.
Lt Dr. Victoria Namagga, the medical officer for UGABAG XLIV, emphasized the military’s broader role in civilian protection. “Security is not just about military protection; it also involves social and economic well-being. We are here to protect civilians and preserve their health,” she said.
Kyeyune John, the district councillor representing Kapeeka Sub-county, commended the UPDF for the initiative and called for more regular outreach programs to support communities in need.
