150 samples tested at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) on Tuesday April 7, were found negative of coronavirus.

President Yoweri Museveni says 41 of the samples were taken from the quarantine group, while 109 were from the districts and were suspected to have come in contact with returnees from the high risk countries.

Meanwhile according to the Director General Health Services, Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa, the total number of covid19 confirmed cases in the country still stands at 52, out of 3,310 samples so far tested.

“The number of those under institutional quarantine has reduced from the original 1040 to 613. A total of 427 individuals have been discharged from institutional quarantine. 855 contacts of the confirmed cases are under follow up,” Dr. Mwebesa says in a statement.

He added that all the 52 confirmed cases are in stable condition, with 20 at Mulaga National Specialized Hospital, 30 at Entebbe Grade B Hospital, one at Adjumani Hospital and another one at Hoima Hospital. “The Ministry continues to appeal to the general population to remain calm but vigilant, practice the preventive measures as earlier advised and stay at home,” Dr Mwebesa emphasized.
