The Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng has urged Ugandans to remain precautious in the wake of rising covid-19 cases.

The Minister made the appeal after confirmation of seven new cases last night. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Uganda to 30. Aceng calls for calm and urges people to continue heeding the Ministry guidelines and also utilize the toll free lines in case of any suspected cases.

“The Ministry of Health toll free lines are; 0800-100-066, 0800-203-033, 0800-303-033. The lines are fully active and assistance will be quickly,” Aceng said on the Ministry of Health twitter handle.

Meanwhile despite a rise in the number of confirmed cases, majority of the samples continue to test negative. “Out of 225 samples run today (Saturday), 218 tested negative,” the Ministry announced.

In a statement on Friday President Museveni said, “though the number is growing, I am still happy to see that majority of the returnees are negative which means they don’t have the virus.” The President noted after only five of 227 returnees from Dubai and other high risk countries tested positive for covid-19.
