Centenary Bank has committed UGX 86 million to support Kampala’s cultural celebrations and sanitation efforts, strengthening its pledge to build a vibrant and sustainable city.
The bank handed over the contribution to a Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) delegation led by Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki. Of the total funds, UGX 50 million will support the Kampala City Festival set for October 5, 2025 while UGX 36 million will go to the Weyonje campaign, KCCA’s flagship sanitation drive.
Hajjat Buzeki praised Centenary Bank for being among the first sponsors to back the redesigned city festival.
“Centenary Bank’s support reflects a commitment to uniting Kampala residents to celebrate culture and talent,” she said, expressing optimism that the partnership would continue to foster a more inclusive and vibrant city.
Centenary Bank Executive Director Joseph Balikuddembe reaffirmed the bank’s focus on community transformation beyond financial services.
“True growth comes through responsible stewardship. We remain committed to a cleaner, healthier, and more inclusive Kampala,” he said.
The Kampala City Festival, widely regarded as East Africa’s biggest street celebration, showcases art, culture, and local talent, while the Weyonje campaign focuses on improving sanitation and hygiene across the city.
Centenary Bank, a Gold Sponsor of both initiatives, says the contribution reflects its mission to promote social and economic development while enhancing the quality of life for urban residents.
