State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Godfrey Kabyanga, has hailed National Medical Stores (NMS) for its medical warehouse in Kajjansi, calling it a symbol of government’s commitment to improving health services and strengthening Uganda’s medical supply chain.

Kabyanga made the remarks on September 17, 2025, during a visit to the NMS headquarters by more than 30 government communicators from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

“This warehouse in Kajjansi is not only the pride of Uganda but a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to strengthening the health supply chain and delivering services that improve the lives of our people,” Kabyanga said.

He urged government communicators to intensify public messaging about government programs to build trust and improve citizen engagement. “When citizens know what their government is doing for them, trust is built and impact is multiplied,” he said.

During the visit, the communicators were introduced to the NMS Delivery Monitoring Tool (DMT), a technology that allows real-time tracking of medicine deliveries.

NMS General Manager, Moses Kamabare, explained that the tool sends SMS alerts about dispatch and delivery to RDCs, MPs, CAOs, DHOs, and DISOs, enabling them to monitor and ensure proper utilization of medicines.

“Alongside GPS-enabled NMS trucks and strategically placed cameras in our vehicles, this technology provides full transparency from dispatch to delivery, improving accountability and building trust with both stakeholders and the public,” Kamabare said.

He also stressed the importance of preventive health education. “While medicines are important, we must remind Ugandans that prevention is even better. More than 75% of diseases in Uganda are preventable. As communicators, we urge you to share messages that empower citizens to live healthier lives,” he added.

The engagement highlighted NMS’s role in guaranteeing the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies in over 3,400 government health facilities nationwide and underscored the importance of communication in amplifying government achievements and promoting a healthier population.
