President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja as a dedicated and effective leader, crediting her commitment and work ethic as key reasons behind her appointment as Uganda’s first female Prime Minister.
The President made the remarks while attending Nabbanja’s thanksgiving ceremony in Kakumiro District, where she also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament. The event highlighted her political journey and celebrated recent development milestones in the area.
Upon arrival, President Museveni was welcomed by Nabbanja and local leaders. He began the day with a tour of the Kakumiro Model Training and Skilling Agricultural Innovations Farm, a project led by the Prime Minister to promote commercial farming.
He also commissioned the newly constructed Hotel Classic Kakumiro, which is expected to boost the district’s hospitality sector and stimulate the local economy.
Addressing residents at a public rally, President Museveni reaffirmed his call for smallholder farmers to embrace the Four-Acre Model, a government-endorsed strategy for maximizing productivity on small plots of land.
“You can change your lives through agriculture and dairy. If you have up to four acres of land, use them well through the four-acre model and others will follow your example,” Museveni said.
The President praised Nabbanja for her work discipline and effectiveness, noting that successful leaders must master sound operational methods. “Some people fail because they don’t know how to manage their work methods. Even a small mistake can cause failure,” he said.
He emphasized that the National Resistance Army/Movement (NRA/M) developed a culture of collective decision-making and refined its mission and work methods over time—principles that guide the current government.
Museveni also assured Ugandans of national security, crediting the professionalism of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). “There will be no war here. The UPDF is capable of crushing any threat. Peace has brought law and order,” he said.
In her remarks, Nabbanja expressed gratitude to President Museveni for his trust and mentorship throughout her political career. “Your Excellency, I thank you on behalf of Bunyoro for appointing me as the first female Prime Minister. You have been my hero and the reason for all my achievements,” she said.
Nabbanja recounted her political journey, beginning as a district councillor in 1998 and rising through roles as Deputy RDC, full RDC, and eventually Member of Parliament in 2011.
She also thanked the President for creating Kakumiro District from Kibaale, a move she said has greatly improved service delivery in the area.
Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, applauded the President for the development projects in Kakumiro and the broader Bunyoro region. He urged residents to continue supporting Museveni and the NRM for continued progress.
The ceremony was attended by several ministers, Members of Parliament, and other dignitaries.
