Officers of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 3 Infantry Division have been urged to embrace discipline, uphold ideological values, and carry forward the legacy of national heroism.

Colonel Allan Kyangungu, the Deputy Division Commander of the 3 Infantry Division, made the call while launching a leadership and ideological training course for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) at the division headquarters in Moroto. He delivered the message on behalf of the Division Commander.

“I urge you to uphold the discipline that defines the UPDF, promote ideological values, and reflect on the spirit of heroism,” said Col Kyangungu.

He noted that the training coincides with Uganda’s 36th Heroes Day anniversary, a reminder of the sacrifices made by national heroes, led by President and Commander-in-Chief, H.E. Gen (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Col Kyangungu urged the soldiers to remain committed to the core values that shaped the UPDF, including obedience, teamwork, and resilience. He emphasized the importance of preserving the revolutionary principles that gave birth to modern Uganda.

“This is the time to renew your commitment to discipline, unity, and loyalty to the mission of the UPDF,” he added.

Speaking at the same event, Lieutenant Colonel Lenin Peter Kyongo, who represented the Division Operations and Training Officer, said the course aims to strengthen leadership and ideological clarity among NCOs.

“NCOs are the backbone of the force,” he said. “This training will improve operational efficiency and ensure mission readiness.”

The leadership course is part of ongoing efforts to build a professional and ideologically grounded force in line with the UPDF’s strategic objective.
