President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has announced a €49 million investment by Dutch company De Heus to support Uganda’s agro-processing sector through the establishment of feed factories for fish, poultry, and livestock.

Speaking on the sidelines of his ongoing Parish Development Model (PDM) tour, President Museveni welcomed the development, highlighting its potential to drive economic growth and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

“Our diplomatic relations with the Netherlands are showing great promise in terms of collaboration to address important issues,” President Museveni said in a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

He commended De Heus for contributing to Uganda’s value addition efforts in agriculture and for addressing environmental pressures through responsible industrial practices.

“This investment not only boosts our economy but also helps us address environmental pressures,” Museveni noted.

He added that the company’s commitment to producing feed tailored to the health and nutritional needs of different animals reflects respect for both scientific standards and cultural values. “I am pleased to hear that they are committed to maintaining the integrity of our culture and ensuring animal health through differentiated feed composition for various animals,” the President said.

De Heus’s investment aligns with Uganda’s broader goals under the PDM to modernize agriculture, increase rural incomes, and enhance food security through private sector partnerships.

The factories are expected to support local farmers with access to quality feed, promote exports, and generate employment.
