President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised Uganda’s rich natural beauty and cultural heritage, saying the country offers unique tourism experiences unmatched anywhere in the world.
Museveni made the remarks on Wednesday 2nd April, 2025 at Speke Resort Munyonyo while officiating at the screening of Hidden Uganda, a documentary by American journalist Peter Greenberg. The film highlights Uganda’s diverse attractions, including its climate, wildlife, and cultural heritage.
The President, accompanied by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, described Uganda as a land of extraordinary beauty. “Here, there’s no air-conditioning. We don’t have to warm or cool the air; we just enjoy it the way it is,” he said.
He noted that Uganda’s central location in Africa has contributed to the preservation of its unique cultural identity. “Uganda was the last to be reached by foreigners. The British stayed here for only 70 years, so much of our culture and wildlife was preserved,” he said.
Museveni also pointed out the country’s agricultural and livestock uniqueness. “The Ankole cows are the only ones in the world with yellow fat, which has less cholesterol. Those cows are a gold mine for healthy beef,” he added.
He thanked Greenberg for showcasing Uganda’s beauty to the world. “I’m very happy. I want to thank Mr. Greenberg, his team, and Diana for this effort,” he said, referring to Age Safaris CEO Diana Museveni Kyaremera, who was instrumental in the project.
Museveni emphasized that the government is working to improve infrastructure to boost tourism. “This film will help promote tourism, but we are also building international airports in Kidepo and Kanungu to allow visitors to fly directly to these destinations,” he said.
Vice President Jessica Alupo commended Hidden Uganda for raising global awareness about Uganda’s tourism potential. She urged Ugandans to take an active role in marketing their country.
Kyaremera praised Museveni’s deep knowledge of Uganda, suggesting he take Greenberg on a tour to showcase the country’s history. “The President knows every inch of Uganda. There’s no better storyteller,” she said.
Greenberg expressed gratitude to Museveni for supporting the project and pledged to continue promoting Uganda. “My job is to show the world the experiences Uganda offers. This will be seen by an audience of over 130 million,” he said.
