President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has held high-level talks with special envoys from China and Turkmenistan to deepen trade, investment, and parliamentary cooperation.
The meetings took place at State House Entebbe on Thursday following the President's inauguration. President Museveni first received H.E. Mr. Losang Jamcan, the Rt. Hon. Deputy Speaker and Special Envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The two leaders discussed the long-standing 70-year relationship between Uganda and China. Museveni specifically praised China for granting Uganda zero-tariff access to its massive domestic market.

The President noted that this trade arrangement will significantly boost investment opportunities for Ugandans. The leaders also emphasized the importance of using dialogue to resolve international conflicts rather than resorting to force. President Museveni thanked the Chinese delegation for their consistent support of Uganda's development agenda.
“I thanked President Xi Jinping and the people of China for the strong and historic friendship between our two countries,” President Museveni stated.

In a separate session, the President met with Mr. Ata Serdarov, the Leader of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan. Mr. Serdarov represented President Serdar Berdimuhamedow at the swearing-in ceremony. The discussion focused on establishing stronger diplomatic ties and enhancing cooperation between the parliaments of both nations. President Museveni expressed his gratitude for the solidarity shown by Turkmenistan during this political transition.
“I thanked him for travelling to Uganda and asked him to convey my appreciation to President Berdimuhamedow for the solidarity shown to our country,” Museveni noted.
The twin diplomatic engagements underscore Uganda’s strategy of maintaining diverse international partnerships. President Museveni reiterated his commitment to fostering mutual respect and socio-economic transformation through these alliances. The visiting envoys pledged to continue working with the Ugandan government to implement the agreed-upon cooperation frameworks.
