President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the armed forces has reappointed Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the Special Forces Command boss.

Gen Kainerugaba will also retain his role as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, the Kampala Post has established.

Gen Kainerugaba was in 2017 replaced by Maj Gen Don Nabasa who was recently replaced by Maj Gen James Birungi.

During his time as SFC commander, Gen Kainerugaba was hailed for spearheading a number of projects aimed at the welfare of his soldiers.

Asked about the changes at this time, the government spokesman Mr Ofwono Opondo told the Kampala Post that, "the Commander in Chief has the right to make changes as and when he deems fit".

Earlier, veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda broke the news, stating that Okoth Ochola had been re-appointed as IGP while correctly stating that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been appointed SFC Commander.

In other changes, Gen Paul Lokech has been appointed Deputy IGP while Maj Gen James Birungi has been moved to replace Lokech who has been in South Sudan as a special envoy.

Maj Gen Sabiiti has reportedly been called back to the General Headquarters for redeployment.
